How scoring works
A right answer scores up to 1,000 for speed: full marks within 2 seconds, sliding to 700 by 12 seconds.
Photo questions give you 6 seconds to study the photo before speed counts.
Pins score by distance: 1,000 within 25 km, less further away, judged more strictly in smaller regions. A pin inside the right country scores at least 500.
A wrong country still scores up to 500, by its distance from the nearest right one.
Estimates score by closeness: 1,000 when exact, about half when 1.5 times off. Within 25% counts as right.
Typed answers earn +25%, and small typos are accepted.
Each right answer in a row adds 10%, up to +50%.
Hints cost part of the round: highlighting the region −40%, highlighting the country −50%, 50/50 −50%, first letter when typing −40%, showing the name −30%, showing the order of magnitude −40%.
Photo Hunt clues lower the round's value step by step: ×0.8, ×0.6, ×0.42, ×0.28, ×0.12.
